Quickly becoming one of the most popular bands for kids in the country, Andy and The Odd Socks, featuring our very own Marcus Ramtohul, are a huge favourite for kids and parents alike!
The beginnings of Andy and The Odd Socks
Back in April 2017, Marcus Ramtohul auditioned to be part of Andy and the Odd Socks. He smashed the audition and now goes by the name of Blu, the coolest bass player on the planet!
The band played their very first gig together at Glastonbury 2017 by personal invitation from Emily Eavis (the co-organiser of Glastonbury) and her young family. Not a bad start at all!
They continued touring family festivals over the Summer including Camp Bestival, Carfest for Children In Need, Port Eliot and Shambala to an overwhelming audience response, playing on the same stages as big names such as Paloma Faith and Paul Weller!
Who Invited This Lot?
Their first album ‘Who Invited This Lot’ was officially released via Universal on November 24th 2017. The album is an eclectic mix of their catchiest songs created especially for kids.
The children love them…and secretly so do their parents! Dull car journeys are a thing of the past once you get this album on!
Odd Socks Day for Anti-Bullying Week
One of our favourite songs from the album is called ‘Unique’, which is all about celebrating individuality and being yourself. It was quickly adopted as the anti bullying anthem by the Anti Bullying Alliance Charity at schools during Anti Bullying Week in November 2017.
Marcus said that the charity work he does with the band is incredibly rewarding. He fondly remembers playing with the band for Hospital Heros with Cbeebies and was overjoyed the small gesture was so important to the kids and their families.
Where are Andy and The Odd Socks Now?
Nowadays fans of Andy and The Odd Socks come from over the world to see them on their tours, from as far away as South America and Australia!
At the moment the band are busy working hard on some secret projects we can’t give too much information about…but expect exciting things from them this year!
